Thanks to everyone who sent in dishwashing soap. We gathered 22 bottles for the Lititz Community Chest this Holiday season!! Several local families will be blessed
Wow it has been a fun month with LOTS of Holiday Happenings!
Our trip to Park City was a GREAT success. Thanks for sending in lists and money. The students really worked on their independent skills while shopping, making the purchase on their own was a big lesson for the day. Also carrying and keeping track of their shopping bags and coats in the mall was an important lesson for the day also.

Waiting in line was another great skill to work on at the mall!!
Infinito’s was also a big hit with the students……it’s hard to go wrong with all you can eat pizza. A great skill at Infinito’s was reminding students to get a clean plate each time they went back to the buffet.
We also enjoyed making and decorating sugar cookies. See if you son or daughter can find their cookie!

Decorating the Christmas tree in the district office was also a highlight! The students decorating skills have come a long way. They no longer place all the ornaments right next to each other, they can spread them out all over the tree!
Reminder we get out early on the 23rd!! Happy Holidays to all! More pics to come later this week!
It’s the most busy time of the year!!! We have been teaching Christmas vocabulary, learning to sing Christmas carols, decorating trees, making cookies and learning about healthy snacks. It’s been busy!!
We made yummy yogurt parfaits last week. They were a hit with most everyone, a few were hesitant to try them, but most everyone enjoyed them and everyone tried a little.
We also made nutritious veggie soup and pumpkin pie right before Thanksgiving and enjoyed it all for lunch one day. Here are 3 students Cutting up all the veggies for the soup
And last but not least……a fun pic with our fun and crazy 4th period volunteers.
LOTS of Christmas pics to come!
Also, just a reminder school dismisses at 11:00 on Dec. 23rd and look for info coming home next week about a walk into LItitz to check out a new store, Candy-o-logy. Mmmmm guess what they sell?

We have been assembling fire prevention kits for the Alert All company. Dawn Krady ( our job trainer) bring us these kits for the students to assemble. The array of vocational skills that can be taught through these job is so beneficial to our students!
Students also completed a job to help out the Warwick Basketball program. They assembled packets for the team!
We enjoyed a brisk walk into Lititz last week. It’s neat to see how the students really know there way around town and were able to find there way to Wilbur quite easily. Wilbur was busy when we arrived so we really had to work on those social graces in cramped spaces. Of course EVERYONE enjoyed purchasing a chocolate item, the choices were endless!
The students also enjoyed seeing the chocolate Santa! It was huge and beautifully decorated and put together! I encouraged the kids to take pictures with their cameras or cell phones.
Here is a great picture of one of our students with 2 of our student volunteers
Look for our annual post on what the students are Thankful for on Monday.
Also Monday the 21st we will be making Veggie Soup ( lots of cut up fresh veggies), Pumpkin Pie and bread!
We have been so busy I have not had time to update our website!!! Right before Halloween we carved pumpkins in class and roasted the seeds. For many of the students this was their first time trying pumpkin seeds.
Info – Field trip this Friday Nov 11th to Wilbur Chocolate
Dec. 8th Annual Christmas Shopping trip to Park City!
We continue to work on safety when crossing the street. There is a great crosswalk to practice, right at Campus Dr and 2nd Ave. It’s a short walk from our classroom so we will be out practicing there a lot. If you happen to drive by and see us, beep and wave!
We also made an easy lunch item the other day. The goal was for students to make their delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwiches INDEPENDENTLY! We were pretty successful with this, so please reinforce this at home and give your student an opportunity to make their own sandwich once in awhile.
I must also add this picture from the high school pep rally. The kids ENJOYED the Moon Bounce/Castle that was set up in the old gym. I know the picture is blurry, but that was due to all the fun the kids were having jumping around!!
We walked in to Lititz last week to continue to work on pedestrian safety. The busy streets of Lititz provided many opportunities for an array of safety lessons. We also worked on common social courtesies such as moving to the right when someone is coming towards you on a sidewalk, and not handing money to a cashier when it’s folded or crumpled. We are going to continue to work on pedestrian safety and using the crosswalks. We noticed that some of the students are still have difficulty with staying in the crosswalk and knowing when to cross SAFELY.
Here we are role playing moving to the right when someone is coming down the sidewalk.
These two students knew not to cross the street when the red hand is displayed in the crosswalk sign.
The Cupcakery on Main St provided a GREAT practical application of using manners to order an item, paying for it ( with out the bills all folded up) and saying Thank you and making eye contact as they leave. We also had to wait in the line in the store, another great skill that required a little work for some of the students. After all it is hard to wait for a yummy cupcake!
During the 4 Sight testing last week we made delicious doughnuts! It was an easy recipe using biscuit dough that is then rolled in cinnamon and sugar after it is deep fried. This was a perfect lesson for teaching the importance of using oven mitts! The lesson also worked on many of those fine motor skills, rolling the piping hot dough in cinnamon and sugar can be a lot of fun.
Reminder!
Field Trip to Lititz this Friday….please return the form!
